Going back to the days of the Israelites under the law, we’re talking sacrifices at the appointed feast times etc where the people would go full of guilt and sin and then being obedient to the process, their sins would be laid on the animal, and specifically at Passover on the spotless lamb, that bore the sins of the people, and the priest would offer the sacrifice to God.
Then the people would go back home forgiven until the next time.
This went on over and over and gazillions of animals died in place of the people.
Fast forward to Jesus.
He was born of a Virgin (important bc He had no sin nature from the seed of man, since the life is in the seed not the egg)
Then He lived a perfect life by keeping all the laws the people couldn’t keep no matter how hard they tried, He took on ALL the sins of the people, as the perfect sacrificial lamb, and acted as our High Priest offering it all to God!
So that’s why He said “it is finished!”
It was a one and done!
He saw all of your sin, all at once
He’s not giving you the side eye when you do something you shouldn’t, lol
BUT He didn’t stop there!
He left His Holy Spirit for us to convict us of our sin so we can walk worthy of His sacrifice
Isn’t that amazing?!
So the salvation part is when we trust in what He did for us, not what we can or can’t do, that He lived perfectly on our behalf, imparting His righteousness to us, so as we trust that He paid our penalty as we look back to the cross that bore our sins, we are His children! He justified us – just-if-I’d never sinned!
1 Corinthians 15:1-8 KJV
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
Romans 10:9:10 KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:16-17 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 6:28-29 KJV
28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
John 14:5-6 KJV
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
1 Timothy 1:15 KJV
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Romans 4:5 KJV
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Romans 5:6 KJV
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:8-9 KJV
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Romans 5:19 KJV
19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners (Adam), so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous (JESUS).
Ephesians 1:7 KJV
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans 3:20-28 KJV
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 5:1-2 KJV
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Leviticus 17:11 KJV
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Hebrews 9:22 KJV
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Are you saved?
